If you take a good look at the girl in this video, it looks to me like she has braces on her teeth.....she is definately from the ruling class....her life, ouside of this earthquake, id probably pretty good....why would she want to leave??

we all assume that haiti is a hell-hole where everyone wants to leave, but drawing from immigration numbers--some can say that about jamaica as well;

My friend how many 11 year old do you know that voluntarily left Jamaica or even their neighbourhoods?
Even if you can give a figure in any significant amounts it proves nothing the problems in Haiti might not be viewed in the same physical and emotional way as e problems in Jamaica.

LOL I need to just not try to pin you down to anything here it is you made a statement which i overstood to basically saying since an 11 year old child does not wish to leave her homeland and so many Jamaicans has chosen to leave there country, what does that say about Jamaicans?

I recognized your tone and the thrust of your argument because I have seen it so many times from you.
Now you have flipped the script and I really don't know what you are attempting to get from me, but I will attempt to answer.

#1 I can't tell, however many times rickety canoes have turned up on shores around the Caribbean and the USA packed to gills with refugees from Haiti. Something I have witness myself in the Bahamas and one time at Port Royal, though they might have been Dominicans (they did not allow us to go out to the boats)

When I lived in the Bahamas it was a regular affair and sometimes we hide illegal aliens both Jamaicans and Haitians in our ceilings.

2. No, but it is very high, in fact there is the well known Little Haiti area in Florida and many major cities as far as Canada have significant Haitian population areas.


3. Well since I agree with you on the ruling class argument, I will also say this in the 70s folks of all classes left Jamaica, but the so-called rich and powerful left first and in greater numbers because they were forced out.

Anyway you, JaJewel and anyone desirous of holding up this 11 years old as template for Haitian intenet, is completely off base. This is a child, she does not have adult cares. With an adult and the full weight of all it entails include taking care of crumb-snatchers. The love of country does not come into it. Mere love of country cannot put food into this child belly, keep clothes on her back and a roof over her head.

Further comparison with Jamaica is also shaky as I said before the physical and emotional toll my carry different weigh differently between a ?Jamaican and an Haitian.

Revisit history and see where the AMERICANS AND FRENCH were technically in charge of Haiti for the past 100 years...even while the despots PAPA AND BABY DOC[S] were at the helm..
